Thanksgiving is a time to express our gratitude for the blessings we’ve been given. At Apples of Gold, we’re thankful for the opportunity to offer our customers stunning wedding bands, gemstone rings and a host of other top-quality jewelry at significant savings.
When the Pilgrims set sail for the New World in 1621, they were seeking a new home where they could worship God in freedom. For the sake of this freedom they endured a grueling voyage across the Atlantic and a devastating winter during which over half of them perished.
However, God had not forgotten them. By fall of 1621, He had blessed them with a bountiful harvest, which prompted the first Thanksgiving celebration. Edward Winslow, who served as governor of Plymouth Colony, wrote about this celebration: “our harvest being gotten in, our governor sent four men on fowling, that so we might after a special manner rejoice together … And although it be not always so plentiful, as it was at this time with us, yet by the goodness of God, we are so far from want.”
William Bradford, who served as governor of Plymouth Colony for over three decades, recorded the many ways that God provided for the colony in his diary, which was later published as “Of Plymouth Plantation.” In it, he wrote,
“What, then, could now sustain them but the spirit of God, and His grace? May not and ought not the children of these fathers rightly say: “Our fathers were Englishmen which came over this great ocean, and were ready to perish in this wilderness; but they cried unto the Lord, and he heard their voice, and looked on their adversity … Let them confess before the Lord his loving kindness, and his wonderful works before the sons of men.”
The Pilgrims had a lot to be thankful for, as do we. Cross pendants are one way to express your thanks for the life that you’ve been given as a result of Christ’s sacrifice. The Plain Men’s 14K White Gold Cross Pendant is a powerful, straightforward symbol of faith that will bring to mind your gratitude every time you see it. This solid 14K white gold piece emulates strength and sleek, timeless style, making it a pendant that can be passed on to future generations. It can also be engraved on either side to make it an even more personal symbol of gratitude.
Love between two people is one of God’s great blessings, and Christian wedding bands capture a message of love without end and of the role that the Creator plays in sustaining that love. These rings are reminders that love is a gift, as well as prompts to give thanks for that gift. For example, the “I Am My Beloved’s and My Beloved Is Mine” Wedding Band in 14K Gold uses a verse from Song of Solomon to call to mind the blessing of belonging to one another.
Happy Thanksgiving from Apples of Gold! We’re blessed to provide you with jewelry to express your gratitude today and all year long.
