Jewelry Trends: Organic Shapes
August 10, 2009 by Yelena Jenkins · Leave a Comment
It seems that everything these days is going organic - from cotton and bamboo clothing to groceries to even jewelry. If you’re wondering how jewelry can be organic, allow us to explain. Since metals and gemstones come from the earth already, jewelry has always been an organic matter. But the traditionally inorganic man-made shapes of jewelry are an entirely different story.
Rings, earrings, necklaces and bracelets are most often carefully crafted into precise shapes featuring smooth edges and exacting designs. Gemstones are valued based on the quality of the cut, which is an art in itself. Getting light to reflect perfectly off of a diamond requires a talented jeweler wielding finely tuned tools. Throughout history, the perfection of a piece of jewelry has had an important impact on the item’s price.
However, with fashion’s recent focus on the natural, green and organic, the more abstract, flowing shapes are becoming trendy and preferable to carefully uniform designs. Irregular shapes, gemstones left rough and natural and uneven patterns etched into gold are edging out the sleekly polished look. It’s a refreshing, untamed style that adds an unexpected pop of rebellion into both classic and laid back wardrobes.
One of our favorite pieces that typifies this jewelry trend is our 14K solid gold fashion ring. Crafted with careful irreverence, this hefty statement piece is a devil-may-care twist on the classic wear-all gold ring. It would look equally lovely paired with a ladylike little black cocktail dress as it would with a long, free-flowing 70s style maxi dress or worn jeans and a v-neck tee.
The ring is nearly an inch wide at the top, a nice size that’s not for the faint of heart. But, if you’re looking for that perfect stylish piece of jewelry to turn an outfit from blah to amazing, our fashion ring is the perfect addition to your jewelry box.
David Tishbi Wins Jeweler’s Choice Award
June 10, 2009 by Yelena Jenkins · Leave a Comment
At Apples of Gold, we pride ourselves on bringing our customers the best, newest and most beautiful jewelry designs we can find. One of the latest additions to our jewelry designer roster is David Tishbi, renowned designer whose finely crafted, artsy jewelry pieces are handmade in Israel. After attending the Las Vegas JCK convention, we were thrilled to hear that one of our favorite rings, the David Tishbi leaf print spinner ring, won the 2009 Jeweler’s Choice Award for Best Ring Design Under $2,500. The award is well-deserved, and we’re excited to be on the cutting edge of jewelry by offering the award winning design on our site.
About the Award Winning Ring
The gold-rimmed leaf spinner ring is crafted from oxidized sterling silver and features a matte yellow gold rimmed base. In the middle of the leaf-etched sterling silver ring lies a free-spinning thin yellow gold band that transforms the ring from special to extraordinary. It is easy to see why this unforgettable design captured the award, and at under $300 the ring is priced amazingly well. The great price point makes its win in the $2,500 category even more exciting. If you love the design as much as we do, we suggest snapping it up before it sells out after receiving so much press.
David Tishbi’s collections are primarily crafted from oxidized sterling silver and accented with gold to create truly special, unique jewelry. Though the leaf-print spinner ring received the Best Design award, Tishbi has an entire line of delicately handcrafted spinner rings to choose from.
We also love the quadruple gold spinner ring, the hammered 14K gold and sterling silver spinner ring, and the rose gold spinner ring. With such a variety of unique designs to choose from, it’ll be difficult to choose your favorite.

Sparkling Citrine Rings
April 9, 2009 by Yelena Jenkins · Leave a Comment
Whether you’ve already embraced sunny hues or want to carefully dip a toe into the world of color, you will love the versatility of boldly colored jewelry. It’s the perfect compliment to an outfit already packed with color, and it also gives neutral dressers an easy way to add a pretty pop to their ensemble. But what color to choose? This spring, our vote goes to yellow.
By now it’s no secret that bright, bold hues are dominating the Spring and Summer fashion scene. And the most shining star in this year’s knockout colors is a bold, cheery shade of yellow. Yellow is the perfect color to dress yourself in this season thanks to its happy connotations and range of hues that flatter any skin tone.
If our bubbling enthusiasm for the virtues of yellow haven’t convinced you, consider that the beautiful citrine gemstone mimics the season-defining color. Citrine is a lovely yellow stone that ranges in shade from pale yellow to rich ochre, and is also the November birthstone. The boldly colored gemstone makes a stunning center stone for rings, which is precisely how we plan to flaunt our yellow through Fall. Check out some of our favorite picks for the perfect citrine ring:
Vintage Style White Gold and Citrine Ring
For diehard romantics who appreciate vintage elegance, the white gold and citrine ‘Enchanted’ ring is just right. The citrine center stone is dainty enough that it doesn’t overwhelm the vintage style filigree ring design.
2.75 Carat Citrine and Diamond Cocktail Ring
If you’re looking for a gorgeous cocktail ring in this summer’s hottest hue, look no further. The whopping 2.75 carat citrine gemstone (shown at top) is surrounded by a demure halo of sparkling diamonds that also encircle the white gold band. This cocktail ring is guaranteed to add a little drama to your wardrobe, and is special enough to pass down as an heirloom piece.
White Gold Citrine and Diamond Dazzle Heart Ring
Women with a love of all things girly and sweet will gravitate towards this saccharine citrine ring. A heart-shaped center gemstone is surrounded by a halo of diamonds and set in 14K solid white gold for dazzling effect.

Of course, we love our blue diamond jewelry too!
By far, our best selling blue diamond ring was our 0.93 Carat Blue and White Diamond Swirl Ring. Our popular blue diamond jewelry pieces was expanded to include our best selling 0.93 Carat blue and white diamond swirl ring. We added many other blue diamond rings to our blue diamond jewelry collection as well that turned quite a few heads.
Wedding Bands have always been at the heart of our jewelry line and Paisley Wedding Bands have always been at the top of our list. Our Paisley Collection was expanded with a new deeply engraved paisley wedding band in 14k white gold, 14k yellow gold, and our most popular paisley release: the 14k rose gold paisley wedding band.
It was our goal to added many new unique personalized jewelry pieces to our collection, and we met our initial goals! The most popular being our Personalized Gemstone Circle Pendant, the Engravable Boy Gemstone Pendant and Engravable Girl Gemstone Pendant, our Personalized Gemstone Baby Shoe Pendant, and Personalized Gemstone Heart Pendant.
We also introduced a new line of Personalized Disney Jewelry, and new gold name pendants.
Benchmark Wedding Bands - A high-end wedding ring brand which includes a Lifetime Warranty and Lifetime Re-Sizing Policy. We plan on adding many new Benchmark styles in 2009.
Official Disney Jewelry – featuring popular Disney characters such as Tinkerbell Jewelry, Mickey Mouse Jewelry, Winnie the Pooh Jewelry, and more! Our Personalized Disney Jewelry collection also proved very popular and all very affordable!

Apples of Gold’s most popular cross, The Polished Solid Gold Cross Pendant also saw a new addition, including: 18K Gold Cross Pendant, an 18K White Gold Cross Pendant, and a Men’s Platinum Cross Pendant.
This cross is fully solid gold and finished on both sides (not hollow), measuring approx. 1 1/4″ tall x 1″ across and 2.5mm thick. Although originally crafted for men, both men and women enjoy this beautiful, expression of Christian faith.
This amazing cross was followed by the release of our 18K Gold Onyx Cross Pendant.
What is better than your own writing or the handwriting of your beloved, engraved onto a wedding band? Apples of Gold Jewelry created the concept of engraving your own writing onto a gold band with our new Personalized Handwritten Wedding Bands in 14k gold yellow, 14k white gold, and 14k rose gold.
Simply scan your handwriting onto your computer and email it to us! We’ll do the rest!
Our unique Victorian-Style Three Stone Diamond Ring became a hot seller in 2008 and as platinum prices dropped, we decided it was the perfect time to offer a Victorian-Style 1 Carat Three Stone Diamond Ring in Platinum also. Also available as a three stone 1 carat diamond engagement ring in 14k white gold or a 1/2 Carat Platinum Three Stone Diamond Engagement Ring.
We look forward to 2009 as we expect to add more items than we did in 2008! We expect to double our production in 2009, with 500 new jewelry pieces being added in the 1st Quarter alone. Yes, we plan on keeping the Apples of Gold Jewelry elves very busy through 2009!
