The Traditional Eastern Orthodox Gold Cross Pendant

The Orthodox Cross, sometimes also known as the Three-Bar or Russian Cross, dates back to the early Byzantine churches of the 6th Century, later adopted and popularized in the 16th Century and onwards by the Eastern Orthodox Church, used in classic church architecture and on Coat of Arms. The topmost bar represents the INRI inscription placed above Jesus during the crucifixion while the slanted bottom crossbeam represents the footbeams that held Him, for an authentic depiction of the cross. The slope is meant to reminisce of the two thieves crucified alongside Christ, the higher right side of the penitent and the downward of the impenitent. Today, the cross here stands as a deeply meaningful devotional emblem of Faith with a profound history.
