Learn How To Raise Godly Children In The Home

October 23, 2018 | By More

When we become born-again Christians, our lives change, and we learn to adapt to a new way of living, and new way of thinking, as we become a new creation, and have a renewed mind too. We learn to see the world and creation for what it really is, and the truth of the Word of God, and what He instructs us to do on earth. That in itself is a new and exciting experience; to be able to start afresh and seek to be more in the spirit, and less in the flesh.

Once we become parents, we want our children to experience what we have when we become saved and born-again, and learn to see the world for how it truly is too. We want our children to come to know God and believe in all that He has done for us, and what He has created around us as well. As such, learning how to raise Godly children in the home is a very important topic to discuss as Christian parents because we want to create a Christian friendly environment in the household that will set a positive and enlightening example to our children, and perhaps even future generations to come! There are a few ways to do this, and I will tell you how! These steps that I am going to expand on can be followed by both the father and mother in the household.

We need to allow our Heavenly Father to guide us on setting the stage for raising our children upon the Bible. I am going to break down three powerful steps for you all to follow along and incorporate into you and your children’s lives, in order to make it easier on yourself, but still influencing enough for your children to be positively introduced to and led by your faith in God. If we follow these three points exactly, then there is no stopping us in what we can do and achieve within our own lives, and our children’s lives regarding our faith!

1. Practice What You Preach

Romans 2:21 –  Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?

Ah, the classic saying, “practice what you preach”. You want to show your children that you have faith in and believing in God and the Bible, and the foundation for and influences of your parental style is based upon that. As such, whenever we are setting an example of our faith, we must go by that and not be hypocritical in our actions and in our words. For example, if you are correcting and disciplining your children on their mannerisms towards others, but you lack in that department yourself, you need to take the mote out of your own eye first, correct and change yourself and your actions, before showing how your children should behave. After all you are their role model, their teacher, and their primary example on how to conduct themselves in life and what is right and wrong. Once you start showing them through your actions and words on how they should be raised, and how it stems from your faith in The Word of God, that is setting the foundation for their beliefs and connections to The Creator.

2. Incorporate The Bible Into All Things

1 Corinthians 10:31 – Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Once you learn to set an example and practice what you preach, you can then incorporate the Bible into every single other aspects of you and your children’s lives too. Whether it’s going to church and studying the Bible, saying a prayer before each meal and before bed, changing what they read and watch to let it be more Christ-centred, as long as you are using the Bible and its true teachings for guidance, then you are well on your way to truly raising Godly children.

3. Bible Study

2 Timothy 2:15 – Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

If you cannot attend a church, or you want to do something extra, I highly recommend a Bible study as a family. Reading and studying the word of God is vital for our personal development and our daily walk with Christ. And since that you would already be following the two steps above, this third and final step is the icing on the cake! If your children are still too young, reading the Bible, or a children’s bible to them is still a fantastic idea until they are old enough to read and understand for themselves (even if it is just the basics), and there are even Christian cartoons and movies that you can all watch and enjoy as a family too!

Sounds easy enough right? Easier said than done, especially with the busy lives that we have! That is why I have broken it all down into three simple steps for you all to follow, and since that most of them at least we are, or should be doing, within our own lives on a daily basis, it is only one step away from setting the stage for what we do in the faith to what our children then do in the faith.

I hope that this all encourages you and helps you on your journey as a Christian parent and that you can raise your children the way that God intended!

God Bless.
