Seasons Change But The Word Of God Stays The Same

August 16, 2018 | By More

Society isn’t all what it used to be.  Morals have changed; people’s thoughts and beliefs have changed; basic common structure within our cultures has changed. We are seeing more and more progressive influences and beliefs among our nations, and less of conservative and Christian morals and structure. For example, parenting has changed among our societies. What was once considered the go-to for how to raise our children, is now deemed as a cruel, bigoted, hateful book that people supposedly misinterpret and thus mistreat their children with it. I am talking about The Bible here, The Word of God.

God tells us how to raise and discipline our children, and also how we as adults are to behave as well. “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). But so many are caught up in this new-age philophopy that basically allows children to get away with their bad behaviors, and also miss out on learning about our creator, from early on. This is just one of the many examples that demonstrate how our societies are progressing away from God and His Word, and more and more towards worldly, ungodly beliefs and ideologies.

The reason why I have mentioned this to you, and bringing up parenting in light of the Bible as a specific example, is to illustrate the negative changes taking place all around us, that are essentially trying to make people believe that God doesn’t exist or the truth of His Word is no longer relevant. But let me tell you this, seasons change, but The Word of God stays the same. No matter how many different societal restructuring that happens around us, or what is and isn’t deemed as morally acceptable for us, and our children, as Christians, we are to remain faithful unto God and His Word, and not the world.

When we become born-again, we are a new creation and we have the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of us. The Holy Spirit leads us to studying and obeying God’s Word, which then draws us further away from being in the world, in the flesh, and more towards our maker, in the spirit. That is why it says in 2 Timothy 2:15, that we need to study The Word to show ourselves approved. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). We must continue to thrive to doing God’s Will and understanding what is written for us, in order to grow and mature in the faith, as well as pass on these positive and enlightening influences to our children, our future generations to come — all through the cross!

In order to achieve this, we need to set ourselves on things above (Colossians 3:2), and not of this world, in order to allow our focus to be driven by that which comes from God. We need to renew our minds (Romans 12:2); to change our mindset, and trust in God’s ability to guide us to how we need to think and behave, and where we need to be in life. Most importantly, we need to remain faithful in God alone (Proverbs 3:5); in His Word alone.

His Word has not changed, and it never will change. We cannot bend what has already been written, to try and suit our selfish desires and intentions for ourselves, and for others. Like I said before, even though the world is progressing further away from the truth of God and The Bible does not mean that His Word has or is changing or can be moulded the way we want it to be. God even warns us about adding to or taking away from His Word. “Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you…For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book”(Deuteronomy 4:2; Revelation 22:18-19).

The Bible is our set of instructions whilst we are here on Earth, and it is up to us to obey Him and His Word, and to share the truth of it all with others so that they may come to know the truth of it all too, and to believe in Jesus Christ and all that He has done for us. “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).

My message here is simple: trust God, have faith in His Word, study the Bible, share the truth with every man, and let all of this change you, your children, and others for the better.

“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away” (Matthew 24:35).

“The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever” (Isaiah 40:8).

Stay strong and stand firm in the faith. Never allow what is going on around us in the world affect our faith in God’s unchanging, infalliable words.

Stay encouraged.

God Bless.
