5 Things Christians Should Do Each Day

I decided to take it upon myself to write about 5 important things that every Christian should do each day that will help them strengthen their faith in God, and make them feel more optimistic in their walk with Christ. When you become a born-again Christian, believing on The Lord Jesus Christ as your personal savior, you become a new creation unto God. Your whole life changes for the better. You have received the free gift of salvation through the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross for all of our sins. As such, the following 5 things I have mentioned should allow us all believers to illustrate our faith and embrace His grace!

1. Stay Constant In Prayer

Colossians 4:2 –  Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;

Every morning when you wake up, I believe that you should start the day by praying to God and thanking Him for another day on Earth. You can also pray about your day, and anything else that is on your mind. Our strongest communication to God is through prayer, and what better way to strengthen one’s faith by casting all fears, worries and anxieties upon Him (1 Peter 5:7), thanking Him and showing such humility and love for all that He has done and continue to do for us. Furthermore, the Bible says to stay constant in prayer (Romans 12:12); to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:16). Whether you stop to kneel down and pray, speak to Him during various activities you’re participating in each day, or even saying internal prayers, all will be heard.

Philippians 4:6 – Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

2. Focus On Things Above

Colossians 3:2 – Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Everything that we do each day should be to glorify God (1 Corinthians 10:31). It is important to focus on the things above, and not the things of this world. Once we are saved, our faith should help redirect our wants and desires from worldly, fleshly desires to Godly, spiritual desires. Our mindset will change too once we set our affections above (Romans 12:2).

3. Do God’s Will

James 4:13-17 – Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Every Christian should deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow Jesus daily (Luke 9:23). It is no longer about ourselves, but rather, what God wants us to do in our lives. He is our Lord and Savior, our comforter and provider. He has a plan for all of us, and we need to pray to Him to allow Him to guide us accordingly. We cannot do this on our own, nor can we put faith in ourselves above God.

4. Do Everything In Love

1 Corinthians 16:14 – Let all your things be done with charity.

Jesus told us that the two greatest commandments are to love The Lord Thy God with all thy heart, all thy soul, all thy strength and all thy mind, and to love thy neighbour as thyself (Matthew 22:36-40). Jesus was the perfect example of showing true love for God and for one another. We need to set the example for others by following in Jesus’ footsteps and love God, and love our neighbors as ourselves. Everything we do should be done in love, for God is love and He is perfect (1 John 4:7-10). When we change the way we act and feel towards others by demonstrating God’s love for all, then we will not only feel a whole lot better about ourselves, and making others feel better, but it will

bring us closer in our faith.

5. Be Slow To Anger

James 1:19-20 – Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

Correlating to my previous point about doing everything in love, is to make sure that we are also slow to anger too. We can be righteously angry over things that would anger God, such as sin, but it is not wise, and definitely not healthy to be angry, to stay angry or to hold grudges against others. We need to forgive and move forward, and allow our frame of mind, our actions, our words, and our feelings all resignate with God’s love, rather than anger.

Ephesians 4:26 – Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

I truly hope that these 5 main points that I have emphasized will strengthen your faith in God, help you redirect your focus on things above, and to renew your mind by feeling and spreading the love of Christ, rather than staying in anger and wrath. Doing these things every day is going to make you feel so much better about yourself, about your relationship with God and about your purpose in life throug the grace of God!

God Bless.
