Celebrating Veteran’s Day: U.S. Army & U.S. Navy Crosses
November 11, the day we know as Veteran’s Day, marks the day in World War I when fighting ceased. Seven months later the Treaty of Versailles formally ended the global conflict. The following year, in 1919, President Woodrow Wilson declared November 11 a national holiday and a day to honor veterans, stating:
“To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…”
Today Apples of Gold wishes to honor the nation’s veterans and those who are currently serving in the Untied States Armed Forces.
The U.S. Army Cross Pendant in Sterling Silver or the U.S. Navy Cross Pendant in Sterling Silver are a meaningful way to honor a Christian serving in the armed forces, and to remind him or her of your support and the Lord’s protection. Both crosses are crafted of 0.925 sterling silver and measure 1 1/8’’ in height. The pendant can be purchased with a sterling silver box chain.
